Focus of the Hungarian Medical Association of America Auxiliary

The Hungarian Medical Association of America Auxiliary is a parallel organization to the Hungarian Medical Association of America.

The focus of the Hungarian Medical Association of America Auxiliary is as follows:

1. To promote and expand awareness within the corporate and non-medical community of the Hungarian Medical Association of America, in the areas of:
• Medical scholarships and accredited educational exchange program
• The yearly multi-disciplinary accredited medical scientific symposium
• Introduction of state-of-the-art medical equipment, pharmaceutical products and medical techniques to the Hungarian American Medical Scientific communities
2. The Auxiliary's financial focus is to raise money for the Hungarian Medical Association of America's educational programs:
• Through corporate sponsors
• Individual fundraising events
• Memorial recognitions
• The Million Dollar Society
• Membership
• Educational Fund
3. To allow, through membership in the Auxiliary branch of the Hungarian Medical Association of America, non-physician health related professionals to participate in the medical scientific symposiums:
• To coordinate registration with the Hungarian Medical Association of America Program chair
• Certificate of Participation
4. To establish a friendly environment wherein healthcare professionals, business leaders, and policy makers can propagate personal relationships and interests.
• Augmenting the scientific symposium with a structured social function that encourages camaraderie
• To provide a hospitality area to care for the participants with multi-diverse needs 

Highlight of Activities

Annual Membership Meeting

The October Membership meeting is held simultaneously with the Hungarian Medical Association America's medical symposium. The Auxiliary augments the conference by providing hospitality, social events, children's programs, and creating an amazing balance between the highest quality accredited conference with the beautiful vacation environment in the sun and sand of the Florida beaches. Providing memorable experiences and fostering lasting friendships.

Scholarships

The Auxiliary places a great deal of emphasis on its scholarship program, believing hat the growth of the human mind in many ways is the highest adventure on earth, and to provide opportunities of education, go hand in hand with the progress of the mind.

Fundraising

Our fundraising events large and small have but one simple focus; education. From raffle tickets to the Million Dollar Club there is a level and an area that matches everyone's ability to extend themselves to others.  Alone we can all make a small difference. Together we have a force to make a significant impact!

What are the benefits of belonging to the HMAA-Auxiliary

There are many benefits to belonging to an organization who places its emphasis on medical and health related issues, education and preserving the Hungarian heritage in the United States.  The following examples are just a few:

• Family members can participate in health care scholarship programs.
• Non-physician health care professionals can participate in the annual medical scientific symposium.
• As a non-profit organization members may take full advantage of all tax laws that pertain to charitable donations.
• Receive information on medical issues.

Where does the money go?

Membership Fees

Both the parent organization and the Auxiliary are administered by a board of volunteer directors. As volunteers they do not receive financial compensation for their diligent work.  However, there are many operational expenses.  An example of which includes:

• Postal Fees
• Printing costs
• Copying
• Office supplies
• Meeting expenses

After general operating expenses are paid the remaining dues are applied to children's programs and social functions at the yearly meeting.

General Donations

87% of all the donations go directly to the scholarship or endowment fund. The remaining 13% is used for professional fees such as accounting, legal fees, processing and operational costs as mentioned above.

A complete detailed financial report is distributed to members after the books are closed year end, and the auditors examine them.
